Todays 'history in our life'

a little bit of sunshine for these cloudy winter days

Day 3-5

Team time!

So the media team (my team) that serves the base, had ‘team time’. A chill potluck. Matt was invited, too, and that was nice. To bring you into what this is like,… its kinda like it’s own community or small group… yes, we work together, but we also serve and pray together…

If you have ever had a potluck before, you know that you really never know what you are gonna get.

Since we have only been here for  a matter of days.. we were not expected to bring anything except our smiling jet-lagged faces..
We had quite the variety considering where we all came from.. a Costa Rican, Canadian, French a couple South Koreans, German, Me and Matt,…. So around the YWAM Base they gathered what they could and made from those a large array of decidedly healthy items… (By choice this time - low sugar - , not just cultural.)

These were the high lights
Roasted Brussel sprouts with sweet potatoes and bacon bits
Salad with all kinds of unexpected things I cannot recall right now.
Homemade Kale chips
Kimchi (Korean dish)
Blueberry Pancakes and Banana Bread for dessert.
Fun memory of the last couple of days -- When meeting Karen, from Costa Rica, we responded with glee when we found out she was from Costa Rica.. "I don't think we have ever met a Costa Rican before!" She responded quickly and confidently  "Well, then, I am history in your life."Those are the moments - serving with so many different nationalities.. and peoples and cultures... I absolutely love it.. #glimpsesofheaven

Also this week, Matt and I had several errands we have had to run into the city. Backround checks, clearances, and other things required by the local ordinances - to do the work we do, as non-Australians... etc etc.. Any-way....
It’s official. We have our smart-rider cards! Any other time, this really isn’t a big deal, but for some reason to us, it was like putting down roots.. “yes, we can officially get around the city” with ease, using public transport. Outside of that,… we had to research phone plans, and internet plans…  which in a country that is not your native, can be a bit frustrating.. but over all, we are hoping to have a similar set up to the one we had in the states. So SKYPE IS AVAILABLE folks.

Some Hardships we found out.
Finances….
Like we will have to get a washing machine, a refrigerator.. more expensive internet, and a phone...
Initial set-costs of things will be a quite a bit more than initially budgeted -things have changed a bit here... Granted we were wise with what we had, so we are a bit ahead, but… we might go without some furniture for a while, until we can settle in.
And God will provide eh? Trusting for what we need.. and patient for the rest.

Going without isn't whats difficult oddly for Matt and I...  but trusting for bigger and better then we hoped or imagined, thats whats difficult.

In this new season, that is what we are trusting for...
